The joy of creation: techniques and inspiration
Studying fashion fills me with immense enjoyment, and I strive to infuse my personal experiences into every design and concept. This journey, though challenging, is incredibly fulfilling. I've gained proficiency in a range of exciting techniques, including 3D printing, machine embroidery, creating seamless pattern repeats, sublimation printing, and the art of tie-dyeing and sewing. Each skill adds a new dimension to my creative expression.
Growing through design: confidence in textiles
My course has been instrumental in my development, not just as a fashion designer, but as a person. It's helped me to conceptualise ideas with deeper meanings and translate them into impactful designs. I've grown significantly in my textile work, feeling more confident in applying various techniques and pushing the boundaries of my creativity.
A project from the heart: vulnerability and recovery
I am particularly proud of my HNC Level 4 final major project, 'Uncover', which explored the sensitive topic of vulnerability in addiction and the journey into recovery. This project was deeply rewarding and I poured my heart into every aspect. Moving into my Level 5 studies, I'm learning even more, especially after the incredible Doc Martens tour and collaboration which further ignited my passion.
Shaping the future of Charley's Fashion and Textiles
This course is an integral part of my future aspirations for Charley's Fashion and Textiles. I'm excited to continue my degree for the second and third years, deepening my knowledge and skills. My ultimate goal is to specialise in patterns and prints, as that's where my passion truly lies within textiles, while still creating innovative fashion outcomes. The journey continues, and I can't wait to see where it takes me.
