Collaboration with Doc Martens
The start of my HND Level 5 we had an amazing opportunity to do a collaboration with Doc Martens. This collaboration was to create a pair of Doc Marten’s boots that are based on my personality.
I did a personality test and found out a lot about myself and it came back that I was a campaigner, so with this information I decided as self care would be what my project was about. I wanted to make boots that were a statement and campaign for mental health and how you should use self care as a way to feel confident with who you are despite your battles.
I began by looking into mental health and created patches for embroidery on a machine with statements like “I love self care” and “Fight for your mental health”.

I then looked into different ways you can experiment on leather such as using a dremel, stitching on leather, putting glitter on leather, 3D printing and embroidery. With these techniques I decided on using Posca pens to put love hearts on my boots, sewing embroidered patches on to leather, having 3D charms, adding glitter to the boot and having fur at the top of my boot.
