My new project is my Final Major Project (FMP). This will take me to the end of my course at Tresham College. I’ll be sad to leave this place behind!
So my FMP is all about Cinderella but not the typical Disney version we all know and love. My Cinderella version is by Charles Perrault. My concept of Cinderella explores themes of abuse and control through the Cinderella version of the story. I’m interested in how her journey reflects transformation - from being silenced and controlled to finally being seen and recognised in society. I also approach this through a feminist lens, examining how Cinderella is shaped by oppression but still retains a sense of identity and worth. Despite the abuse she experiences, she remains “golden,” which is something I want to reflect in my designs.
